Do I need to calculate the stacking and puddling etc in my measurements?
Do I need to calculate the stacking and puddling etc in my measurements?
No, we just need the measurement from the step-by-step measuring guide and we will automatically calculate the required amount of fabric you need.
What is a ‘puddled' finish?
What is a ‘puddled' finish?
This is when the curtains sits past the floor creating a puddled look. We recommend between 15-25mm.
I have an old villa and my floors are uneven, how do I measure?
I have an old villa and my floors are uneven, how do I measure?
For older homes with uneven floors we advise measuring the drop/height at the left, middle and right then taking the average height of those 3 measurements.
How high should I install my rod or track?
How high should I install my rod or track?
For modern & contemporary homes or interiors we recommend to install your track just below the scotia or ceiling, for higher stud/ceiling height this may need to be adjusted.
For traditional homes allow approx. 250-300mm from the celling or 150-180mm from the bottom of the scotia. Please note: we will automatically calculate the final height measurement from the measurements you provide us from our measuring guide.
How far out from the door or window should I install the Rod/Track for stacking?
How far out from the door or window should I install the Rod/Track for stacking?
This is the tricky bit. Curtains need space on each side of the window/door to stack the curtains when they are not drawn, we call this space ‘Stacking’.
Using the measurement from outer window/door trim to outer window/door trim:
For lined curtains (pair) allow 150mm for each metre of window to stack on each side of the window (or 300mm per metre for single side stacking). Window measurement + 300mm per 1 metre rod/track. Eg: for a 2.5m window you will need 375mm (2.5 x 150mm) each side for stacking (or 750mm single side). Total width of track/rod = 3,250mm.
For unlined curtains you only need 125mm per metre of window, on each side for stacking (or 250mm per metre for single side). Window measurement + 250mm per 1 metre rod/track
Consider what space you have on each side of the windows. If one side is butted up to the edge, look at doing a single curtain and let it stack on the side with the most space.
Please Refer to out measuring guide for more info, we will automatically calculate the stacking allowances based on your measurements from our measuring guide.
What is a 'Hooking Position' or heading?
What is a 'Hooking Position' or heading?
The hooking position is the measurement we need to ensure that the hooks of your curtains are popped into the right place so your that curtains sit correctly on your track and rods.
If you have a standard track that is covered by your curtains, measure from the top of the track to the bottom of the hole in the glide that the curtain hooks into.
If you have a decorative rod or standard track where the curtain sits below, measure from the bottom of the rod to the bottom of the hole in the glide that the curtain hooks into.
HANGING & AFTERCARE - What should I expect after I hang my curtains?
HANGING & AFTERCARE - What should I expect after I hang my curtains?
Linen is a natural product and does have an organic look so when you first hang the curtains they will be crinkled, you can leave them to relax or gently steam or iron.
Please note they will drop approx. 10mm once they have hung and relaxed for a while.
To help the pleat form once you have hung the curtains, you can use pegs to set the pleat.
